I’ve worked in the Pilates industry for over 20 years and have been a course provider, course writer, trainer, mentor, assessor, teacher, teacher trainer, guinea pig and movement enthusiast.
This tenure has allowed me to explore many different aspects of the industry - with my early career supported by the fitness industry, then into contemporary Pilates and now full circle to classical Pilates, also known as ‘Contrology’. I currently study and develop my own skills with Wade Edwell. He is an incredible 2nd generation Contrology teacher, allowing me the grace of being a 3rd generation Contrology teacher.
I recently shifted my studio from contemporary to classical and have found the results for myself and my clients significant. The shift is not only in the equipment, but also with the approach. All of us at Motion and Repose train 2+ times per week, myself included. This consistency is the key and also the way that you remind yourself to always be a student of the method rather than being a pro.
The studio runs with an expected minimum twice weekly commitment, as I have seen this to be the best way to gain the understanding of Pilates as a system of movement, rather than a series of exercises. It allows you to master the way YOUR body moves and also have the space to develop skills on all the apparatus. Ongoing Open Studio sessions are available via twice weekly or unlimited subscription.
The Pilates Contrology System will support you and your body to open up, feel more spacious, tall and generally more vital. It is something that simply has to be tried to be understood. I promise you that with regular commitment the results are nothing short of amazing. There’s no barrier to who can do Pilates in this way, as each person is given their way to approach the system and develop at the rate that is ‘right’ for them.
This systemised approach is the framework for the Contrology approach and Motion and Repose and with commitment you will wholeheartedly enjoy the change. It has nothing to do with fitness, skills or gymnastic ability, as my approach allows for the adaptation to you and your body.

Open Studio Sessions
All people are welcome at Motion and Repose, because all people can do Pilates.
Our in-studio sessions are the best part of Motion and Repose and are delivered as Joseph Pilates designed them to be; Open studio - Contrology sessions, with ‘your order’.
We have a maximum of 4 people per session on Contrology/Classical Pilates equipment in-studio and the ability to sign in via Zoom to support your travel and life commitments.
Your Body. Your Workout. Your Pilates
The expected commitment is a minimum of 2 sessions per week. This allows for maximum integration and body transformation. You will feel stronger, more supple, a sense freedom in your day-to-day movement. Vitality.
All new clients must complete a new client Intro Package prior to moving into Open Studio, which continues via a rolling subscription. Book the times that work in with your week and life.

1:1 Pilates and Coaching
We completely understand that some people prefer private sessions and as such we provide a considered timetable for clients wanting this personalised attention.
Sessions are conducted either in-studio or via ZOOM. Depending on your work/life commitments you can mix between the two.
All new clients MUST complete a new client Introductory Package. This provides 2 x 1 : 1 sessions within 14 days, (Please note: no extensions or rollovers.)
These 2 sessions allow us to address your particular needs and to form a framework for your continuing Pilates practice via Open Studio, we call this framework ‘your order’.
Pilates 1 : 1’s are available in 30 and 50 minute sessions and are recommended for when you wish to take your Pilates to the next level.
